All of Kras gene zone codon 12&13, 61 and 146 mutations are examined in our Center since 2006.
Starting from early 2008, examination of Kras genetic zone comprised of three parts in patients with colon cancer and determining the treatment method according to whether genetic mutations are found after the examination has gained importance.
It’s been determined that the mutations occurring in codon 12 and 13 within part no. 1 (exon 1) of Kras, codon 61 within part no. 2 (exon 2) and codon 146 within part no. 3 (exon 3) cause Gleevec/Imatinib resistance in the patients. Therefore, examination of this zone before the treatment determines the treatment approach. Similarly, it’s emphasized that a similar approach in head-neck zone cancers is important for the patients.
