What is the importance of EGFR DNA analysis in the cure of pancreas and lung cancers?

Our center, for the patients who are diagnosed lung cancer, continues to check the area of EGFR gene on the tumor cambium, and the stage of using drugs if test results turned out to be positive, from the beginning of the 2006. We already realized that in this way the chance of receiving positive results has increased.

Many doctors, today, under this light request this tests for people suffering lung and pancreas cancers, try to increase of  the chance of success by using  medicine named Iressa (Gefitinib) and Terceva(Erlotinib).



Our center has started some pre-studies to be able to lead the treatment protocol after defining that mutations are often encountered on the Exons of 18,19,20,21 according to the scientific studies. In all these studies starting from in the middle of 2006, primers have been designed to be able to make array analysis, and studies are continue.
